Please Please Please keep the game going, this is where I met Sten, who literally saved my life. I have not tried the acro fever site, but based on what I have read in others comments, it would not be eye friendly to Sten, which would mean the end of a game he has enjoyed forever. Please let Sten or I know anything we could do to ease your burden. WE NEED YOU AND ACROCHALLENGE!

I just went to acro fever and OH NO! It's not iPad user friendly at all, the graphics are distracting, the color scheme could give a person seizures, there no non-topic rooms that I could see, players can't create rooms, and worst of all, I didn't see any adult rooms ANYWHERE.

AcroChallenge is the best acro implementation ever. I still play, though not as often as before I moved to Ohio.

Its particularly easy for me (and, I bet, a ton of others) to read the screen in AC.

Michael, do the forums require your attention? I haven't read the vitriol in the forums for a couple years, and I'm better off for it. Maybe shut that part down. No matter what you do, you have my undying gratitude for what you have given us. If you closed AC I would be sad, but would respect your decision.

Michael....

I am one of the guilty ones that doesn't play much anymore and that has been for a reason. I had to break away because things were just too tense with a few players and it drew too much of my attention in a negative fashion.

I was an original AcroPhobia player that went into DT's the day it just fell off the net. Then, I happened to be told about a place called AcroChallenge that was just as good if not better than the originator.

I found your game in June of 2002 and was resurrected from the land without Acro. The folks in the adult room (some I had known from AcroPhobia) made me feel as if I had never been lost with their welcoming nature and I felt right at home.

It's time for my character to be resurrected once again and I will make a concerted effort to show up more often and try to recruit new players to show the appreciation that you deserve for putting the game on for so long.

Best Regards,

Robert

Michael,

please keep AcroChallenge alive. I've played at Acrofever only because I can find a game over there most any time of the day (as opposed to here where its a very narrow window of playtime). I love acro-themed games and Acrofever fills in a void and feeds a Jones that Acrochallenge hasn't in over a decade. (Do any long-time players remember when you could find daytime Acrochallenge games? I certainly remember!)

Given the choice, I'd rather play here than at Acrofever.

There are some things I do like about Acrofever, all of which involve game mechanics and play. There are many things I dislike about Acrofever. The Acrofever dislikes outweigh the likes. I think Mr. Puzzle sums the comparison up quite well.

Overall, I think Acrofever is inferior to AcroChallenge.

I also think the quality of competition is better at Acrochallenge. The players at this site are skilled professionals who helped turn me into an excellent, well disciplined player. I can't say that about Acrofever. Sure, there are excellent players at Acrofever that keep me on my toes, but IMO, AcroChallenge is the big leagues and Acrofever is the minor leagues. Acrochallenge has the best players in the galaxy. Acrochallenge is the place to hone your acro skills.

When I play at Acrofever, I act as a good will ambassador for AcroChallenge. I always encourage Acrofever players to come over here to play, and hopefully we'll start seeing the dividends of my efforts. I encourage regular AcroChallenge players who play at the other site to invite Acrofever players to our wonderful Acrochallenge world.

Michael, I think its time to seriously consider allowing AcroChallenge access through Facebook (like Acrofever). I know you've hemmed and hawed about this in the past, but, when you're considering shutting this site down rather than promoting it to a larger audience, I have to question your motives. Acrofever can't hold a candle to AcroChallenge. The biggest mistake you could make would be shutting down the better of the two acro sites.

Joe the UFO,
proud AcroChallenge since 2006

Wow - I had no idea there were still that many people playing. I wrote 10 years ago (or so) that as long as people play, that I would keep the game up. I've been regretting those words for a little less than 10 years. (just kidding)

i'll try to answer a few comments directly...

MrPuzzle - I would guess that you are a specialist in something detail oriented, like brain surgery or rocket science. That was some clear and concise messaging. I have no doubt that AF will mature, give it time.

fuct - you had me at 'I don't know...'

bilbolives - I love you too.

af_icedbergs - class act for chiming in. listen to your players - they are the best (free) product and QA teams you'll ever have. some people here were just reacting to the possibility that AC would go away and not actively trying to post negative comments about AF. You have a great, clean (most importantly, working) game. People don't always realize the depth of the logic that goes into a project like this and I've seen more than a few Acro games come and go over the years because of it. So don't worry, I'm confident that you will have many years of abuse ahead of you.
1. Make it work
2. Make it fast <-- you are here :)
3. Make it pretty <-- I just stole graphic from Acrophobia
What do you think about cross-promotion if no one is one of our sites? Instead of "No one" on my 'Who's Playing' page it could say "No one, but you can check out AcroFever." Send me a private message if you think that's something you might be interested in.

maricookie / clouddancer - we had moderators. I don't think it really worked - it just provoked more abuse. With no moderators there are fewer snerts

Rubberdonkey - the early versions of AC were crap - don't be such a kiss-ass! I've seen some of the posts between you and the... others. I learned a long time ago that you can't argue with stupid.

Everyone else - thank you. I guess I can keep the game going a little longer. You guys rock!

Dear Michael,

Thank you for being willing to keep this wonderful site going. I appreciate the willingness of so many members to express their true feelings to you about how vital Acrochallenge has become to us.

Peace, Love, bilbolives

Muchas gracias, Michael for the nice message to all, and for agreeing to keep this going. I think there is room enough in the world for 2 acro sites, and like you said, a number of them have come and gone in the last 15 years or so, and Acrochallenge keeps going, like the Energizer Bunny. People like some continuity and stability in their lives with all the other random and unpredictable, not to mention scary stuff going on in this ever-changing world.

Michael,

Hey now! I wasn't kissing your or anyone else's ass! LOL

Honestly speaking, I was shooting from the hip, very straight forward. With all my heart, AC (even the first versions) was better in some ways than phobia, although it was just a tad different to get used to.

I was exposed to new players of which some have been long time friends. Hell, I even played AC when I was in the hospital for a month after I had my K/P transplant! Thank God it was available because I was going nuts in there!

It's been a while but many of us have pulled all-niters till the sun came up playing your game. I can't say as much for Acrophobia. Lots of good folks here now and in the past. I hope the ones that have strayed eventually come back.

Seriously speaking, I'm not going to bother trying AcroFever, not as a knock on them whatsoever, but why migrate when I have something that fits the bill right here?

We've lost some good folks along the way and I would be remiss if I didn't mention their names and say that I miss them.

Phlegmmy-Paul
SisterFister-Darlene
Snipples-Danielle
HippyFeller-Rob

May you all be enjoying your stay in paradise.

Michael, thanks for this game and I mean that straight from my heart, no ass kissing......

I know I have given you as much grief as I possibly can, but I am willing quash my ego today to implore you to keep this going. I would also like to see more updates to acrochallenge, even if you have to farm out the coding to other people.

I personally consider you to be an internet legend.

In the future, you can MegaGoogle Acrochallenge.. and you will have thousands of entries.

In the future, you can MegaGoogle " Berkley Systems " and the only entry you will find is,

http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Berkeley+Systems+Announces+What's+the+Big+Idea%3f+Officially+Live+on...-a053427915

and not even a mention of Acrophobia.

OOPs my bad.... that's not in the future.. that's now .. in the present.

Please do not shut down acrochallenge.com

Michael.. Just so you know, Rehab sent me a text telling me to read the forum, I did and Buddy and I talked about it then I posted (copy/past) on face book urging everyone to stop by the forum and let you know how we felt about your post.

BIG thank you to Rehab!

And I would also like to thank everyone else who responded.

LONG LIVE ACROCHALLENGE!

Hey, appreciate the reply and the kind words! It's great to see that there's still such a strong group behind the acro concept, it's what we're all working towards in the end. Very happy that you're keeping the lights on here - not sure if we could take on the AC community and do it justice anytime soon!

Definitely know what you mean about the years of abuse ;) Sometimes people aren't quite so sensitive to the fact that these sites are developed and hosted out of kindness in the feedback emails. So for me at least it's pretty cool to see the voices coming out in love and support, hope you got a kick out of it and maybe we'll get there one day as well.

Regarding some form of cross promotion, I'll let the AF creator Christian know he should get in touch with you if he wants to do it. Either way, massively appreciate the offer and again wish you all the best with your game :)
